Photoshop

Photoshop is my second most-used software in the Adobe Creative Suite. Normally, I didn’t use it as much simply because I was too comfortable with Illustrator. However, after learning more about the software and using it more for projects, I have come to use Photoshop much more in my career. Once I got past the illusion that it was just a more complicated Adobe Illustrator, I grew to really enjoy all the unique tools and resources photoshop had to offer.

Brookfield Zoo

I created this banner for Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. The zoo was one of the coolest places I remember from my childhood. It felt like stepping into a jungle with dozens of animals to see that were also difficult to find. I wanted to recapture that same energy with this banner. Which is why I had the name of the establishment written in great, bold text and placed a lion’s face within the letters to mimic the idea of it staring at you through plants. Combine that with a jungle background, a parrot peeking out of the corner and covering only the “Z” to add some depth, and the main aesthetics for my banner are complete. I added some fun phrases like “bringing the jungle to you”, as well as “join us on the adventure” to help emphasize that child-like feeling of walking into a jungle.

Amazon Jungle Travel

This advertisement is a poster I created to promote a safari in the Amazon Rainforest, the world’s largest rainforest. This poster was very difficult to put together. Much of the rainforest is actually 3-4 separate images, collaged and recolored to fit the same aesthetic. This collage of different photos and perspectives of the rainforest was carefully edited and put together to look like one giant establishing photo of the forest. The clear blue sky is also a completely separate photo that makes up the background. When creating advertisements, I try to capture the feeling you are going to experience for the thing I am advertising. So, to make this poster feel like a safari, I added a tourist with a big camera peering out of the jungle, looking for sites and wildlife to capture. I also added some animals you would encounter in the jungle, so I added 2 of them. The first being a jaguar lying on a log. I made this the bottom of the poster to add a little more depth to the flow of the layout. The Cheetah is right next to the open waterfall, which then leads straight up to the main text, which is right below the safari tourist pointing their camera at the Amazon safari logo. As I mentioned earlier, I put 2 animals within this poster, and the 2nd one is the red-eyed tree frog. This frog is blended into the poster on purpose because the red-eyed tree frog is a very hard-to-find animal within its natural habitat. To help capture that same feeling of searching hard to find one, I placed it within the giant text that says, “Photo Safari”.
